City Temple, from 33 Holborn

This is one of the original set drawn on the older thicker deep cream Moleskine sketchbook paper. Also, one of those I did straight in with the fineliner. Today I returned to the scene of the crime to add some more detail and maybe go for some shade as well. I thought I could get better defined shapes on the ornaments but that wasn't going to happen. It wasn't that my drawing of three years ago had been slapdash, I really had drawn what I could see; even if not quite all of it. PS I've bought a new toy, a directional compass! This was at 102 degrees, East by south. And 33 Holborn is better known as Sainsburys' Head Office.

The Ritz Pharmacy

A little word of advice; don't be lulled into a false sense of ease when faced with the possibility of drawing an elevation as opposed to a perspective. The Ritz Pharmacy took about an hour, standing outside the American Dry Cleaners in Hampstead High Street. Although one can judge a certain amount of proportions by eye, please put in some construction lines to start with. Especially in the centre so all three floors' windows can line up. It makes all the difference between rubbing out and starting again, to getting more done. Just owning up ...
