and even more scans, I am now seeing pencil smudges where I swear there weren't any before. Cartridge paper is weird stuff, sometimes I can get a scan where it looks almost white, and without bleaching out the image but not today. I like the feel of this though, a kind of '60's newsprint look, a decade of which I am particularly fond; as I was born in 1959. Anyway, on to actual painting issues. A row of tiled roofs often present as a boring section of dark, dull, dirty grey/brown flatness. I got round this on the terrace here, by laying a few different colour washes on first, then glazing over with just one. (I think).
